These college level courses are provided to high school students for free through the support of Treasure Valley Community College and other community partners.

Emerging Writers Summit 2021 - April 10 and 17

This Opportunity for High School Students is Sponsored by Treasure Valley Community College, Emerging Leaders Summit, Community in Action, and the Oregon Community Foundation - Latino Partnership Program!

This two day, one credit course will be hosted on April 10 and 17, 10:00 am - 2:30 pm.

Students will take part in the following workshops:

  • 5 Tips to Instantly Improve Your Writing

  • Writing Strategies for Different Learners

  • Using Grammar Gooder

  • Generating Ideas for Beginning Writers

  • Writing for Comics

  • Writing Poetry

  • Zines 101: Cheap DIY Self-Publishing

  • Writing Your Scene

This course is available for both live and virtual participation for high school students. By attending both days students will earn a college level writing elective credit from Treasure Valley Community College.

Community members and college students can attend the course (online only) for standard TVCC tuition and fees, which will cover the college credit.

Emerging Leaders Course 2020 - November 7 and 14

This Opportunity for High School Students was Sponsored by Treasure Valley Community College, Emerging Leaders Summit, and Community in Action!

This two day, one credit course was offered both in-person and virtually on November 7 and November 14, 10:00 am - 2:30 pm.

Students learned leaderships skills such as:

  • Goal setting

  • Understanding personalities

  • Networking

  • College Preparedness

  • Ag Business

  • Finding a Job

  • Interviewing

  • Volunteering

This course was available for both live and virtual participation. By attending both days students earned a college credit in business from Treasure Valley Community College.
